From the age of 4 when I first traveled in a CP Air (dating myself) 747 I was fascinated with airplanes. From then till roughly 10 years old I kept telling my mom I wanted to become a pilot. Finally, realizing that I wasn't going away with this she began to lay down the law and continuously say to me "non pensare nemmeno di diventare un pilota, e troppo pericoloso".....which loosely translated means "over my dead body, it's too dangerous". She told me to pick a less dangerous (pericoloso) career; so I became a motorcycle riding accountant.

There is an overabundance of high-quality Independent Pro Wrestling here in the GTA, and I moonlight as cameraman and editor for several of them. From the old-school influenced “Hogtown Pro Wrestling,” the high-flying lucha libre of “Lucha in the 6,” and the hardcore-style “DEATHPROOF Fight Club,” there are almost a dozen promotions stretching from Hamilton to Oshawa, each with their own unique styles and wild personalities!

One of my passions is photography. I have been fortunate to travel to numerous places to photography beautiful landscapes, sunrises, sunsets and wild animals in their natural habitat. I spent two weeks in Australia taking in everything the land down under offers. One evening my family and I happened to be walking by the concert hall taking pictures where Lady GaGa was performing and I was mistaken for a paparazzi photographer by her fans.

Designing ads is a lot like building a deck. You do it once and you’re done, free to sit back and do nothing but drink beers and bask in the warm glow of the sun. On second thought, maybe the two have nothing in common. But I did build a deck once and I have to say it’s pretty sweet.

I discovered the joys of alpine skiing when I was 7 years old. At 17, hoping to share that joy, I completed an internship and became a level 1 ski instructor for beginners, generally young children. I learned how to teach basic movements through games – line up like a little train yelling “choo choo” or follow like a duck saying “quack quack”. You can imagine my surprise when they gave me a group of teenagers to work with!!!!

In the mid-80s, I nailed down numerous contracts to do airbrush art on jean jackets and team T-shirts. It was a challenge to get the job done on time and within budget as I was also a full-time student. The most demanding requests came from fans of Heavy Metal bands who wanted me to duplicate the art from a favourite album cover, e.g., Iron Maiden, Metallica, Mercyful Fate.

Oz was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. His mom wanted him to be a doctor and his dad wanted him to be a lawyer. But his third and closest parent, television, wanted him to be a writer for The Simpsons. Obviously he went with option three. After a few job rejections and a restraining order from Matt Groening, Oz decided to put that dream on hold and pursue something else. He eventually went with copywriting after watching a commercial of a gorilla drumming to a Phil Collin’s song.

I may have wasted most of my youth watching TV and movies. By the age of 8 I thought I had seen every movie in the world! But now I feel I have evolved a bit, and discovered that I also love reading, rock climbing and paint & wine nights with my friends. I still enjoy a good comedy or a sword-fighting flick here and there, but you only have one life to live, so "vive ut vivas".

When I first started out as an art director, I listed my skills in my resume: Photoshop; Illustrator; Quark Express; can hit a 7-iron 175 yards. I got more calls about the 7-iron than anything else. Mostly “Tell me about that 7-iron,” and “Can you show me how to hit my 7-iron 175 yards?” Now, working advertising hours and a father of 2 kids, I’m still very proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator.

It was always a bucket list item to ride a scooter in the streets of Bali, Indonesia. When the opportunity to backpack Bali with one of my best friend's came up, there was no hesitation. Likewise, when the opportunity to scooter the streets of Bali came up, again, I didn't hesitate. That was a big mistake. One "right turn" into my ride, I crashed into a building on a random street in Ubud, Bali (with my best friend on the back). A couple bloody knees and bruised elbows later, on my best friend, I somehow managed to come out of that cut and bruise-free.

Back in 1993 a friend and I decided a road trip was in order to watch the Leafs vs the Blues in St. Louis. 16 hours later it was true – the Leafs were victorious. We met some locals and hung out there for another couple of days. When it came time to go, I couldn't find my friend anywhere and ended up coming back to Toronto by myself. It took me only three days to return but, thanks to Via Bus service, my friend got back to Toronto before I did.

I am a grandma and often referred to as the “office mom,” but don’t be surprised when I tell you I love ATVing... on nice easy trails, mind you. While in Moab I was just givin’ ’er along a trail when all at once I faced a rather rocky area. I couldn’t stop for fear of sailing over top of my ATV, so I punched it. It was horribly bumpy, hanging on for dear life as my helmet slammed repeatedly into the handle bars. All at once I was on flat ground again and thanking my lucky stars to have survived. Just then my daughter’s friend rode up alongside, rather impressed. “Wow, you were great back there! Most of the time just on three wheels!” My cool reply, “Yeah, I love this stuff!”

I’ve only landed a plane once. My future wife, Judy, and I watched the Scorsese movie “The Aviator.” I loved it. A month or two later it's my 30th birthday and Judy tells me to meet her at the bottom of Bathurst Street where she hands me a present. It's a biography on Howard Hughes. “Great” I think. “What a nice gift.” Then Judy tells me that we’re about to go for a flying lesson off the Island Airport. I couldn’t believe it. Some 16-year-old pre-pubescent gives me a flying lesson. We fly out over my childhood neighbourhood in Ajax and back. It was incredible. And I landed the plane without the instructor having to touch the controls once. So, it turns out landing a plane safely is not that hard after all.

When backpacking, I stupidly boarded a ferry broke to a fairly deserted island where I quickly lost my phone and used up the last $23 to my name for 1 night's accommodation, a $2 meal and a single phone call to my almost dead phone. Things really turned around when I called my phone to find it with the ferry captain, begged my way into a free bus ride to get it and befriended the only other person on the bus who offered me a job to start the next day. I stayed for months working at a beach-side hostel, exploring the island and meeting the most amazing people. Kismet or a lot of luck?

Here’s the picture: I’m back in High School, Grade 9 gym, swimming module – but I don’t know how to swim. The class had some free time so I was just sitting on the edge of the deep end hanging out when next thing I knew I was sinking to the bottom. After I was pulled up and out I found out who had pushed me in. Turns out, he became my best friend. I guess we forged a long-lasting relationship that day. Needless to say, I still don’t know how to swim.

In a previous life I worked in a sponsorship capacity with Sidney Crosby. On one occasion I hosted contest winners in Pittsburgh to watch a Penguins game from premium seats and a meet-and-greet after the game. The winner’s 10-year old son was understandably awestruck. After getting Sid to autograph a number of items, the young boy showed him his hockey card. I suggested that the boy autograph one of the cards and give it to Sid. After a laugh, the boy autographed it and gave it to Sid who graciously accepted it. Who knows, Sidney Crosby just might have a card from the next Sidney Crosby!

Back during University I had a summer job with the Metro Toronto Zoo as a mono-rail and zoo mobile tour guide and driver. It was the end of the day and I was dropping off the “empty” mono-rail train back to the maintenance station. I thought it a great time to belt out some Bohemian Rhapsody over the train’s speaker system. When I finally arrived at the final destination and opened the doors, a family, who obviously didn’t hear the “last stop” announcement, stepped out of the end car applauding my performance. I promptly took a bow and bolted for the exit.

Before moving to Toronto in February 2015, I was living in the Detroit area and working at MRM-DET on the Chevrolet account. Born and raised in Michigan, I have always been a huge Detroit Red Wings fan. It just so happens that when Mike Babcock was still coaching the Wings we shared the same tailor. One day when getting a suit fitted, the tailor asked my size and had me try on a beautiful black sport coat. The jacket fit perfectly, but was certainly out of my price range, so I told him that I could not afford it. He responded by telling me that Mike Babcock had ordered the sport coat, but realized that he already had one just like it, so he said to give it to the next guy that it fit and that guy was me. And that's how I ended up with a free sport coat once worn by the Leafs head coach.

I've recently returned back to Toronto after spending a year and a half teaching English in Korea. I left Korea learning a lot about myself and a vegetarian.
