I love roller coasters so much, specifically the ones that go really high, but every moment that leads right up to them starting is the MOST terrifying feeling ever. The summer the “Behemoth” ride at Canada’s Wonderland came out, my family and I went there to debut the ride. Once we got in line for the ride; getting higher up to get strapped in the rollercoaster cart, I started crying in fear of how much higher we kept going. I genuinely thought I would go back down because my heart begun pulsing much more the higher, we got. My brothers encouraged me to get on the ride and start by closing my eyes from the first drop of the ride, which I did. It was the most exhilarating feeling after that first drop, it was such a good ride that we went back to take the ride again.

I once met Drake at a club in the mid 2000's ie: before he launched his solo musical career but still had swag because he was rolling with Weezy. I was a little tipsy but really feelin' myself. I just KNEW I had to chat with this Degrassi icon. So, I strolled over to him and said, "Oh my God, Wheels! I loved you on Degrassi!" to which he responded "My character's name was Jimmy. Wheels was a white guy named Neil who had a mullet". Crushed and, clearly more intoxicated than I thought I was, I sauntered away knowing that this would be the only time I would ever speak to Drake.

In the mid-80s, I nailed down numerous contracts to do airbrush art on jean jackets and team T-shirts. It was a challenge to get the job done on time and within budget as I was also a full-time student. The most demanding requests came from fans of Heavy Metal bands who wanted me to duplicate the art from a favourite album cover, e.g., Iron Maiden, Metallica, Mercyful Fate.

Five or six years ago, I had the romantic notion of casting off the shackles of responsibility and taking a solo road trip through the North Eastern US, Kerouac style. But you know what’s not romantic? Sleeping in your car. After a week or so of showering in Dunkin’ Donuts’ bathrooms, I found myself at a farmers market in Portland, Maine telling people I was a chef from Toronto who would cook an amazing meal in exchange for a hot shower and place to stay for the night. And that’s the story of how I met the Allens. I’m pretty sure there’s a picture of me still on their fridge – you never know where you’ll meet new friends.

When I was in grade 9, our family went on vacation to Cuba. We met this other family that was vactioning there at the same time. I'm not typically the type of person that does crazy things but we had been watching sky divers land on our beach for the week we were at our hotel. The dad of the family we met was saying how his son and himself were going to go sky diving the following day. I was tryin to be cool and said that I would totally skydive (but I really didnt want to). My dad woke me up at 6am the next morning and told me that Barry (the dad we met on the beach) had bought me a ticket to skydive with him and his son. I couldn't exactly back out so I took a bunch of Gravol and Pepto and ended up going. My mom was super mad that my dad was letting me go. The plane we jumped out of had no doors and looked like it was going to fall apart. It was one of the coolest experiences of my life and I landed on our beach to my mom and sister, who for sure thought I wasn't going to do it! I've never been again!

There's something with me, specifically my luggage and Europe! It was 2018 when I was touring the UK for our honeymoon and I had a connecting flight from Amsterdam to London. We reached London alright just to realize that the airline has lost my baggage, which meant I had nothing but the pair of jeans and tshirt I was already wearing. Although I got my luggage in a couple of days but sadly all my photos during those 2 days had the same clothes :( Anyways, when I recently moved to Canada, I had my connecting from Frankfurt and guess what! My luggage was lost again and this time I was without my snow boots, Literally skating my way out of the Pearson Airport.

Live music is my happy place, so I see as many bands as I can in as many different cities as I can. One late night in Edmonton with a few friends, I spontaneously walked into a local concert venue looking forward to seeing an alt-rock band I knew was playing in the city that night. After paying $40 at the door, I slowly realized, based on the apocalyptic paraphernalia, the number of security staff and a Google search, that we had instead just paid to see a Norwegian black metal band. Picture a combination of shrieking vocals and corpse-painted faces, with impaled animal heads and medieval weapons for props. We stayed of course, and now Mayhem and Watain are my favourite black metal bands.

September 5th of 2015, I am 23 years old and have just moved to Los Angeles to begin a Master's degree in Visual Arts at the Art Center College of Design. One week of classes, two heat waves, an ant invasion in my studio and a broken air conditioner later, I change my mind. My father takes a plane from Florida to join me. We cross the United States in 5 days aboard my 2004 Toyota Corolla (without AC). On October 5th, when I got back home, I realized that maybe it was a little too early to live the American Dream.

I built my first website for a relatively large company when I was 14 years old. At the time I was absolutely thrilled about the opportunity to take a summer off from my part-time job and focus on this lucrative opportunity. When it was finished, I remember the absolute feeling of pride at what I had accomplished. However, when I look back now I remember that the entire site was built on a black background with offensively bright neon colours. Not to mention, the buttons were streaked with horrendous gradients and oversized bevels. Even though the internet was a very different beast back then, I'm not sure it was forgivable.

I just learned that the proper expression for "cut and dry" is actually "cut and dried". Apparently it was originally referring to herbs in the herbalists' shops, as contrasted with growing herbs; hence, fig. ready-made and void of freshness and spontaneity; also, ready shaped according to a priori formal notions. Then I had to google what "priori" means, and I'm still down that rabbit hole...

When I was younger, I taught sailing and coached a race team in Georgian Bay. The job was mostly lounging in the sun. On one of those blue-skied, thirty-degree, sunny mornings I saw a dark, purple haze coming over the horizon. “What is that”? I radioed the other instructors but suddenly a massive wall of weather was heading our way at an alarming rate. The wind began roaring, lighting flashed and hail rained down. Masts were breaking and boats capsizing everywhere, our students were all swimming for safety. We had to abandon the sail boats, and rescue all the kids in our dingy. Before we even made it to shore, the docks had broken loose and our boats were being ripped to shreds. Luckily, everyone made it back safe. This was the scariest weather I’ve ever seen. Now I know what a white squall is.

From the age of 4 when I first traveled in a CP Air (dating myself) 747 I was fascinated with airplanes. From then till roughly 10 years old I kept telling my mom I wanted to become a pilot. Finally, realizing that I wasn't going away with this she began to lay down the law and continuously say to me "non pensare nemmeno di diventare un pilota, e troppo pericoloso".....which loosely translated means "over my dead body, it's too dangerous". She told me to pick a less dangerous (pericoloso) career; so I became a motorcycle riding accountant.

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to do my first TED Talk. Given my experience in marketing to women, I chose the topic of “Conscious Consumerism and the Power of the Purse” which was pretty standard fare for me. Unfortunately, although I had given dozens of speeches before, I vastly underestimated the anxiety (ok, panic) that preparing for an actual TED Talk could induce. After weeks of writing and re-writing my speech, practicing endlessly in front of my dog who always fell asleep, plus a solid weekend of Downton Abbey binge-watching (we call this stage “denial”) – the Talk day finally came. My “Truth Well Told?” I admit it: I popped a Xanax, walked on stage and gave the talk almost flawlessly. #ConqueringFears

Back during University I had a summer job with the Metro Toronto Zoo as a mono-rail and zoo mobile tour guide and driver. It was the end of the day and I was dropping off the “empty” mono-rail train back to the maintenance station. I thought it a great time to belt out some Bohemian Rhapsody over the train’s speaker system. When I finally arrived at the final destination and opened the doors, a family, who obviously didn’t hear the “last stop” announcement, stepped out of the end car applauding my performance. I promptly took a bow and bolted for the exit.

When a previous colleague of mine would reference me in messages or emails, auto-correct would sometimes change my name “Linds” to “Linda.” It happened so often that Linda became a nickname of mine and a sort of pseudonym. Now it’s stuck! Everyone at my last workplace called me Linda. So I would tell the story to my friends, and it caught on with them. Even my parents, who named me at birth, don’t correct a message anymore if it says Linda; they just think the whole thing is hilarious.

Sorry Nana. Six months, 25 Cities, 32,000 kms (and one burnt down trailer) later, it turned out to be an alright decision. Yes. Our trailer actually burnt down (accidentally of course). After university, my first job was with Federal Express. In those days, courier companies had to use passenger flights. I would make 10-15 domestic (India) or international flights a month. One time I had a 9 a.m. flight to Hong Kong with a return flight at 10 pm that evening. The flight developed engine problems before takeoff at Bombay. The delay was 9 hours, which meant I landed in Hong Kong at 6 pm, passed all the baggage on to Fedex there, and boarded the same flight back. When I landed in Bombay, the customs officers were very suspicious as I had no baggage. I was thoroughly interrogated by several officers to make sure I wasn’t a drug dealer or gold carrier.

In a previous life I worked in a sponsorship capacity with Sidney Crosby. On one occasion I hosted contest winners in Pittsburgh to watch a Penguins game from premium seats and a meet-and-greet after the game. The winner’s 10-year old son was understandably awestruck. After getting Sid to autograph a number of items, the young boy showed him his hockey card. I suggested that the boy autograph one of the cards and give it to Sid.
